The laboratory of Dr. Anang Shelat within the Department of Chemical Biology is seeking a highly motivated scientist interested in leveraging the power of chemical biology to translate promising small molecule drug candidates into clinical trials for pediatric brain and solid tumors. Our lab employs state-of-the-art cell-based high-throughput and high-content screening technologies, advanced bioinformatics and machine learning approaches, and a unique collection of patient-derived orthotopic xenograft tumor models to: (a) investigate drug molecular mechanism of action, (b) identify drivers of drug resistance and sensitivity, and (c) develop combination strategies that enhance in vivo efficacy while preserving a therapeutic window. The lab is particularly interested in exploiting DNA repair defects, identifying and targeting addiction to anti-apoptotic BH3 proteins, and manipulating epigenetic state to selectively eliminate tumor cells.   The applicant must have a strong background in cancer biology and significant experience with in vivo studies, including basic animal husbandry, tissue procurement and processing, and murine xenografting. You must be comfortable working with 2D and 3D cell culture techniques. You will harness the world class resources available at St. Jude to accelerate research and seek new insights. The successful candidate will work alongside basic scientists, clinicians, and pharmacologists in a project team environment, with the goal of translating research findings into clinical trials for children with cancer.

We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Senior Researcher to join the laboratory of Dr. Mitchell Weiss, chair of the Department of Hematology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.   The Weiss lab is particularly interested in non-malignant disorders of the hematopoietic system including β-thalassemia and sickle cell disease. Our research involves defining the mechanisms of gene regulation during hematopoiesis, the functions of non-coding RNAs, and the mechanisms of protein quality control such as autophagy and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis in red blood cell formation and associated diseases. Moreover, we are developing novel genome editing based strategies to explore new therapies for β-thalassemia and sickle cell disease using Cas9 genome editing, base editing and other technologies.     We care deeply about the success of our lab members. We are also highly supportive of candidates who wish to pursue a PhD in the future.During his career at Harvard, University of Pennsylvania and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Dr. Weiss has trained numerous students and post-doctoral fellows, most of who have gone on to successful careers in academia or industry.   The successful applicant will be experienced and conversant in a range of experimental approaches including mammalian cell cultures, animal experimentation and basic biochemical tools. Our world-renowned Developmental Neurobiology department has an exciting employment opportunity for a Director of Behavior Core. In this role, you will have exposure to breakthrough behavior techniques and technologies, pertaining to modeling of neuropsychiatric diseases. This will involve conventional rodent behaviors combined with optogenetics, chemogenetics, telemetry, fiber photometry, and other state-of-the-art tools. Furthermore, the candidate will work closely with the departmental Neuroimaging Analysis Core, which assists in implementing machine learning for unbiased analysis of rodent behavior.   In this role, a candidate will be responsible for all aspects of rodent behavioral assays, including study design, programming software platforms, analyzing and interpreting data. This job will be specifically focused on developing, characterizing and validating standard and innovative behavioral studies. Previous extensive experience in rodent animal behavior models is required. Experience with behavioral software platforms such as MED-Associates and Clever Sys is highly preferred. The job requires adherence to quality control measures and scientific rigor for ensuring experimental consistency. Contributes to the scientific direction of the laboratory in partnership with Principal Investigator. Manages budget planning process. Provides direction and supervision to laboratory staff. Expected to maintain extensive knowledge and expertise in respective discipline. The Human Applications Laboratory is composed of two sections, the Quality Control Section providing product analysis by flow cytometry and product quality testing for sterility, and the Stem Cell Processing Section providing cellular therapy product processing in accordance with good tissue practices and good manufacturing practices.     Contributing to our mission of finding cures and saving children, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated professional to join the Stem Cell Processing Section as a Specialist I. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex, highly specialized technical processing procedures, using aseptic technique and maintaining attention to detail for technical and documentation functions.Cellular therapy processing experience is preferred. Essential computer skills, such as Word, Excel and Outlook as well as flexibility, teamwork, and good communication skills are required for this position. Additional requirements: Ability to work in teams and effectively communicate transitions in work processes. Excellent mathematical skill, analytical skill, and technical dexterity. The Senior Clinical Staff Pharmacist - Specialty Infusion evaluates, processes, and monitors physician orders for patient medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, serves as a reliable source of drug information, maintains computer records and patient profiles, assists in drug inventory maintenance, assists in quality improvement activities, and directs Pharmacy Technicians as well as Clinical Staff Pharmacists in their daily activities with the Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy area.
