The Department of Radiation Oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking two motivated candidates to join the clinical physics section. This position will provide all aspects of radiation therapy patient and equipment related planning and quality assurance.   Department of Radiation Oncology is a full-service department dedicated to clinical research and treatment. With the mission of providing expert and compassionate clinical care, our department houses the world’s first proton therapy center dedicated solely to the treatment of children. The proton center is equipped with two gantry rooms and a fixed beam room. Each room has dedicated pencil beam scanning nozzles, robotic patient positioning, and cone-beam CT. The department has two linear accelerators used for photon therapy and multiple imaging platforms for treatment planning and on-treatment evaluation. Imaging platforms include a dual-layer spectral CT, digital PET-CT, and state of the art 1.5T and 3.0T MR systems. The department supports multiple treatment planning and image-processing systems.   The clinical physics section is comprised of 6 physicists, 4 dosimetrists, 2 medical physics assistants, and an accelerator engineer. Collects, documents, organizes, and maintains data obtained from medical imaging studies. Processes radiation oncology and proton therapy research data using a variety of analytical software. Under the supervision of the directors, will provide stewardship of the assay development and instrumentation validation process from concept to clinical      testing go-live, including:    a) Participating in validation design, experiments, and execution    b) Generating and updating the technical sections of validation documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and report templates as needed    c) Assisting in the design of clinical workflows, EPIC order builds, laboratory informatics, and other custom informatics as needed    d) Evaluating, recommending, and implementing new procedures, reagents, sequencers, and software as needed for continuous improvement of the           Molecular Pathology and Clinical Genomics Laboratory 2. Ensures adequate quality control methods are implemented according to CLIA/CAP standards and address any quality control    issues as they arise. 6. Maintains a variety of cell lines for developing controls for molecular testing and performs a variety of molecular assays in the lab, such as quantitative real-    time PCR, capillary electrophoresis and fragment analysis, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) based assay, as directed. 7. Maintains accurate records of work performed, reviews quality control data, and performs corrective action on failed tests, as needed. 8. Troubleshoots technical/non-technical problems of a highly complex nature and continually explores process improvement and efficient operation            opportunities. 9. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, follows established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine technical and clerical support tasks that are integral to the operation of the Pharmaceutical Department. Prepares unit dose medications, outpatient prescriptions and intravenous admixtures to assist the department in the preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical supplies. Stocks and reorders pharmacy supplies, assists with mail-out orders, replenishment of nursing floor stock, and orders, receives and distributes pharmacy inventory within the pharmacy and throughout the institution. Maintains inventory records and performs audits for medications, supplies, controlled substances and regulated alcohol. Utilizes software programs for all inventory transactions and coordinates ordering with wholesalers and other suppliers. Implements and maintains pharmaceutical technology including computer systems, pumps, and dispensing devices. Ensures all inventory is received and stored each business day in alignment with standard operating procedures; assists in storing medication orders, and receiving drop ship and direct purchase orders as-needed. Facilitates the management of medication inventories; ensures medication product is stored appropriately and in-date, rotating inventory as necessary. Maintains all medication storage areas in a clean, organized, and orderly fashion. Ensures assigned tasks are accurate and reviewed by supervising personnel as required. Performs cycle counts of medication inventories including counting, investigating, and rectifying discrepancies according to written procedure.
