We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Lead Researcher to join the laboratory of Dr. Ellison, in the Department of Pathology. Dr. Ellison's lab is interested in exploring the clinical and molecular features associated with pediatric brain tumors, particularly ependymoma.   Candidates should be able to perform and coordinate a wide range of laboratory research procedures and conduct a spectrum of complex support tasks and projects determined by our current research. Your duties will include molecular, cellular, and biochemical analyses using methods such as ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, Single Cell-Seq, and processing tissue for translational studies. You will also manage murine colonies and perform cranial implants. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively, work independently, and present scientific findings.     Preferred Skills Experience with ChiP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, Single Cell-Seq, DNA and RNA extractions, and immunohistochemistry is preferred. Experience with animal husbandry, breeding, colony management and genotyping is preferred. Candidates with good communication and organizational skills are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will be able to work with unfamiliar systems and learn enough about them to determine whether we are using them optimally.  The Systems Analyst might schedule training, talk with vendors, or read documentation to determine if there are better tools out there for our needs.  We need the person to become a super user of our systems and help us get the most out of them.   It is not required that the Systems Analyst be an expert programmer or that the person already know how to do anything related to radiation oncology or medical imaging.  CT, MR, and PET imaging modalities are critical to treatment planning, delivery, and response assessment.  It is required, however, that the employee be willing and able to learn these things as needed (with help from us of course) and that the person can collaborate with others.  This position requires frequent interaction with and support of domain experts such as radiation oncologists, medical physicists, medical dosimetrists, and research staff.  It is imperative that the the employee be able to work actively and constructively with them to develop processes and programs that aid their work.   This role is well positioned to make many important contributions to pediatric cancer treatment.   Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm   Take the first step to join our team by applying now!

The Human Applications Laboratory is composed of two sections, the Quality Control Section providing product analysis by flow cytometry and product quality testing for sterility, and the Stem Cell Processing Section providing cellular therapy product processing in accordance with good tissue practices and good manufacturing practices.     In this role, the selected candidate will supervise the Stem Cell Processing Section for  processing activities in support of both standard of care hematopoietic stem cell transplant and translational clinical trials. This position reports to the HAL Manager and   Director and is responsible for effectively leading the day-to-day technical activities related to routine production and quality control of cell therapy products. Madan Babu's Group and the Core Center for Data-Driven Discovery in the Department of Structural Biology is seeking a highly driven, full-time Mammalian Synthetic Biologist to lead synthetic biology and pooled cloning, functional genomics, and cellular engineering projects related to IDR-Screen. IDR-Screen is an in-house framework to discover functional intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) of the mammalian proteome through high-throughput screening of defined sequence protein expression libraries. We use Next-Gen Sequencing coupled with traditional and Machine Learning approaches to uncover sequence-function relationships in IDRs. Madan Babu's Group and the Center of Excellence for Data-Driven Discovery in the Department of Structural Biologyis seeking a highly driven, full-time experimental Lead Researcher with expertise in GPCR pharmacology. The Babu Group uses data driven approaches to understand sequence-function relationships in intrinsically disordered proteins and structure-function relationships in medicinally important structured protein families such as GPCRs and Kinases, respectively. The Lead Researcher will design and carry out experiments aimed at understanding mechanisms of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling in human physiology and disease to develop novel therapeutic strategies.   Work from our group has revealed insights into signaling mechanisms linking the ligand-binding pocket in receptors (Nature 2013) to activation-dependent conformational changes (Nature 2016), the selective binding of G proteins (Nature 2017), and allosteric activation mechanism of G proteins (Nature 2015). We have demonstrated that GPCR isoforms diversify signaling response in different human tissues (Nature 2020) and that GPCRs are highly variable in the human population, contributing to variable drug response and posing an economic burden on healthcare systems (Cell 2018).     The ideal candidate will be an expert in the development and use of biosensors to perform imaging, high throughput screening, and functional assays of GPCRs in mammalian cells. The Cell and Tissue Imaging Center at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is looking for a talented and driven electron microscopist to join the Center at the Scientist level.   The electron microscopy facility houses a Thermo Fisher Scientific F20, a Helios FIB/SEM and a Teneo VolumeScope SEM as well as a variety of equipment for sample preparation including Leica tissue processors and ultramicrotomes, equipment for low temperature processing and multiple vacuum evaporators. Staff members in the Center collaborate with investigators on a variety of research projects from standard tissue pathologies through three-dimensional imaging projects by electron tomography or volume SEM and have the opportunity to participate in development of techniques and protocols to drive St. Jude’s research forward.     This position requires experience in biological electron microscopy. Skill sets in volume SEM (scanning block face SEM, array tomography, and FIB/SEM) and/or high pressure freezing and freeze substitution are highly desirable.
