If you enjoy learning something new and having variety in your job, St. Jude has a Blood Bank Medical Technologist (MT) II/Clinical Laboratory Scientist position for you to work in a state of the art laboratory.  Our Blood Bank is accredited by AABB and CAP under its Lab Accreditation and CAP15189 programs.  This position offers you a unique opportunity to work in a challenging patient care environment by providing transfusion support for complex pediatric patients treated in our Comprehensive Cancer Center, our hematology program which focuses on sickle cell disease and other blood disorders, as well as other centers dedicated to treating children with catastrophic diseases.  Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and accurate performance, validation, and reporting of laboratory test results which are utilized for the purpose of prognosis, diagnosis, treatment, and research.  Under the direct supervision of the Director, Manager or Supervisor, the MT II is responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled.  The MT II may work under the guidance of the MT III or MT IV.  In order to be successful in the role, the selected individual will need to be able to work independently, problem-solve, and have strong attention to detail skills as well as strong organizational skills.  If this sounds exciting to you, we look forward to reviewing your resume and application.  Current blood blank experience is desired.

 

Schedule:

Sunday-Thursday: 10:30pm - 7:00am with rotating weekend and holidays

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences and completion of a medical laboratory technologist training program
  • Master's degree in Clinical Lab Science accepted in lieu of experience

Minimum Experience

  • Two (2) years of medical technologist experience required. Two (2) years of relevant clinical medical laboratory technician experience may be considered for one (1) year of medical technologist experience

Required Credentials

  • Tennessee licensure as Medical Technologist-General or categorical in the assigned lab preferred
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCPor AMT required if not licensed within six (6) months of hire

Other Credentials

  • Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCPor AMT preferred
