We are looking for an outstanding and highly motivated Researcher to help us advance state-of-the-art understanding of genome editing approaches for therapeutics. We are hiring a new team member for our NIH Somatic Cell Genome Editing consortium project, focused on developing a new platform for defining biological adverse consequences of editing in human T cells. We care deeply about the success of our scientists and this is a unique opportunity to learn about genomics while improving confidence in the safety of genome editing therapies.

The Tsai and Cheng labs are collaborative and creative academic lab groups focused on advancing genome editing technologies for therapeutics and understanding the function of non-coding regulatory elements in the human genome, respectively.

You will help a highly collaborative and fast-paced team to advance methods for defining biological consequences of genome editing of human T cells. You will use high-throughput genomic and epigenomic approaches to characterize the activities of CRISPR genome editors (including nucleases, base editors, and prime editors), and help develop and validate a novel platform to functionally interpret these activities. We are highly supportive of candidates who wish to pursue a PhD in the future, and recent lab members in this position have gone on to highly competitive graduate programs.

Please include a cover letter in your application addressed to Dr. Shengdar Tsai. Application Tips

Primary responsibilities inlcude:

  • Genomic studies to understand current CRISPR genome editors in edited human T cells towards cancer immunotherapies.
  • Epigenomic studies to understand mechanisms by which off-target mutations can impact cell fitness.
  • Analyze experimental outcomes and develop high-quality summaries towards manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Draft manuscripts and figures for publication in high-impact journals.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in cell or molecular biology, genetics, genomics, hematology or a related area required. Will also consider current students with an anticipated graduation date within 3 months of application. Verification of degree is required prior to start date.

Minimum Experience

Successful applicants will have excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.

  • Preferred prior experience in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics, hematology, computational biology.
  • We also encourage applications from those with long-term interests in pursuing a graduate degree.

What We Offer
