In support the St. Jude research, we have large-scale parallel file storage systems (Spectrum Scale and Lustre), data protection infrastructure, high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) computing machines, and other storage and computational systems in its state-of-the-art data center.

 

St. Jude is looking for an who wants to help advance the St. Jude research in the discovery and translation of biomedical knowledge into treatments and cures for pediatric catastrophic diseases. The HPC Storage Architect will work with our faculty, research staff, and IT professionals to architect, implement and maintain research file storage systems (like Spectrum Scale or other related parallel filesystems ), data protection infrastructure, and InfiniBand networks to support the HPC clusters, ML/AI computing machines, and other computational systems. The HPC Storage Architect will have the unique opportunity to apply the latest storage technology and digital innovation for the advancement of research in pediatric catastrophic diseases. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical architecture of enterprise storage and data protection infrastructure provided by Information Services (IS), including design, policy and procedures, monitoring, auditing, and reporting.
  • Serves as a technical advisor for storage technology, and provides support to IS leadership for priority setting, resource utilization, continuous performance improvement, overall technical guidance, and strategic planning across the storage infrastructure portfolio.
  • Works collaboratively with process owners, departmental leadership and IS staff to promote the effective use of storage technology and to maximize the value received from technology investments.
  • Overall technical responsibility for coordinating the design, documentation, and validation of a disaster recovery process as it relates to enterprise storage infrastructure.
  • Requires the ability to effectively communicate with peers and senior leadership, and departments.
  • Accepts on-call assignments providing 24 x7 coverage as required.

 

RESPON_IT

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required
  • Master's degree is preferred

Minimum Experience

  • Eight (8) years of information technology experience and progressive responsibility is required
  • Experience must include implementation, management and support of enterprise level data storage and data protection, extensive experience with current enterprise NAS, SAN and data protection technologies, and disaster recovery planning and implementation for storage systems
  • Four (4) years of experience is acceptable with a Master's degree
  • Experience with clustered file systems and HPC clusters is preferred
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux is preferred
  • Experience with GPFS/Spectrum Scale or related large filing system is preferred
  • Experience with Infiniband is preferred
