The Northcott Lab in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally renowned for being a leading research group in the genomics and developmental biology of childhood brain tumors. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientific Manager to assist with the day-to-day management of a sizable laboratory of trainees and technical staff conducting basic and translational research projects with a primary focus on medulloblastoma, the most common malignant childhood brain tumor.
The successful recruit will work closely with the Principal Investigator to develop and execute the scientific direction of the laboratory. Recruit will be responsible for the technological and scientific direction of the technical staff and provide leadership in the definition, development, and execution of new and existing techniques and procedures. Additional responsibilities will include project coordination and management, as well as training/supervising departmental personnel on instrumentation and adherence to proper workplace practices. The successful recruit will provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring and serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues. The recruit will be expected to lead their own independent research projects, prepare manuscripts and progress reports, and present their research at institutional, national, and international meetings and conferences. Outstanding interpersonal skills and proficiency in scientific communication and writing are required for this position.
