  • Responsibilities

    St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, has an opening for a Manager – Software Development/Research Informatics who will plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of information systems and software applications in the Research Informatics Division. The position will maintain, support, and upgrade existing systems and applications and implement security and the performance monitoring of software applications. Provide project management assistance to team members to ensure all projects and tasks are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications. Provide primary leadership for the development of project plans and ensure adherence to project goals and timelines. Assist in the technical management of software applications and servers including software installation, configuration, testing, and file management. Develop and manage a comprehensive training program for all end-users of the application portfolio under management. Provide technical support to application developers, QA, and business analysts. Develop team members through formal training and mentoring activities and ensure cross-training of mid and senior members to expand areas of expertise and ensure cross coverage for key skill sets. Provide input to help develop and maintain strategic initiatives to ensure Research Informatics success. Evaluate third party software and tools. 

    Minimum Education

    Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science or related.

     

    Minimum Experience

    Five (5) years of experience as a Software Developer/Architect, or related occupation. Experience must include: five (5) years of experience in applying full-life cycle agile software development methodologies as a project leader; and three (3) years of experience in managing an in-house data management software development team.

    Required Credentials

    Experience in each of the following is also required:

    1. Leading digital modernization proposals to migrate legacy applications.
    2. Python and Cloud Migration.
    3. Interacting with end users and stakeholders to define specific functionalities and integration points and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
    4. Object-Oriented methodologies and programming in Oracle and SQL Server databases.
    5. Open Source Architecting and Data Processing with ETL tools.
    6. C, C++, and JAVA languages.
