    Think of what you could achieve if the best possible care was all that mattered!  Scrubbing up before a surgery or procedure, the doctor takes great care to assure their hands and arms are as clean and sterile as possible. The same care goes to the equipment and tools used by doctors to perform surgery and procedures.  As a  Sterile Processing Technician Coordinator, you would help prevent infection and the spread of disease by overseeing the sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment and tools as well as have the opportunity to act as a liaison for the department. 

     

    Work Schedule: M-F, 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. Rotating weekend call.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities in collaboration with the department manager include:

    • Coordinates the day to day activities, act as department lead in conjunction with collaborating with the Operating Room Staff
    • Clean, process, and sterilize a variety of reusable medical or laboratory supplies and equipment
    • Operate cleaning equipment/machines such as ultrasonic cleaners, washer-sterilizers, steam and gas sterilizers, or autoclaves to decontaminate products
    • Test, assemble, package, and distribute cleaned products
    • Maintain records on the use, stock, and maintenance of equipment and supplies
    • Comply with safety, infection control, and regulatory agency standards of quality

    Minimum Education

    • Associate's degree required

    Minimum Experience

    • Three (3) years of sterile processing experience working with medical/surgical instruments, disposable supplies and equipment, and monitoring biological test results required

    Required Credentials

    • Surgical Technologist National Board of Surgical Technology Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD) required

    Other Credentials

    • Central Service Technician from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM). Surgical Technologist National Board of Surgical Technology Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD) required
