The Pathology Department at St. Jude Children's Research has an open Pathologist Assistant. The Pathologists' Assistant (PA) is responsible for the preparation, gross examination and dissection of tissue/fluid specimens for histologic and cytologic examination by a pathologist and will take an advanced role in the performance of post-mortem examinations. The PA assists the pathologist in intraoperative consultations including frozen sections. The PA manages the morgue and the pathology fixed tissue archives. Under the supervision of Medical Director-Anatomic Pathology, the PA is responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled and may work under the guidance of Faculty pathologists and the Manager-Anatomic Pathology.
Our Pathology department consists of 9 Pathologists, 1 Pathologist Assistant, 3,400 surgical blocks annually, ~20 autopsies annually, and various departmental residents rotating throughout the year.
Position will be Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm with Rotating on call for autopsy service which includes weekends and holidays.
Bachelor's degree required
Master's degree preferred
Minimum three (3) years' experience as a Pathologist Assistant; experience can be waived if a graduate from NAACLS accredited Pathologist Assistant Program

PA(ASCP): Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by the ASCP Board of Certification required
PA(ASCP) which is renewable every three years
