  • Overview

    Under the supervision of the attending physician, works collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. Provides care for patients both in the outpatient clinic and the inpatient setting and addresses both acute and chronic issues in managing disease and treatment-related complications.. Collects, documents and analyzes patient data; collaborates in the development and implementation of treatment plans; coordinates patient care with ancillary clinical services; makes appropriate referrals to consulting medical staff; provides follow up to referring physicians; may orient or precept students and new staff. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the institution.

     

    This position will require credentialing and privileging by the Medical Staff Office (MSO). The hiring process will not be considered finalized until the candidate has successfully completed the credentialing process and been notified by the MSO in writing that they have been approved. This process may take three (3) to six (6) months to complete.

    Minimum Education

    Nurse Practitioner:

    Masters degree in clinical nursing required.

     

    Physician Assistant:

    Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program required.

    Minimum Experience

    Pediatric or oncology experience preferred.

    Required Credentials

    Nurse Practitioner:

    Must possess a current Advanced Practice Nurse License issued by the TN State Board of Nursing. Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.

    Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.

    Supervising Physician: verified by St. Jude Managed Care Department Nurse Practitioner.

    Certification: American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

    Certificate of Fitness: State of Tennessee - Division of Health Related Boards within 6 months of employment.

    DEA certification: U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration within 6 months of employment.

     

    Physician Assistant:

    Licensed by the State of TN Board of Medical Examiners to practice as a Physician Assistant.

    Certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistant.

    Supervising Physician: verified by St. Jude Managed Care Department.

    DEA certification: U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration within 6 months of employment.
