Currently, we seek a Genetic Counselor with experience in clinical genetics and an interest in cancer to participate in clinical, educational and research-based initiatives. The Genetic Counselor will be housed in the Division of Cancer Predisposition, a new and exciting Division at St. Jude solely dedicated to the evaluation and management of pediatric oncology patients and their families. Through the outpatient Cancer Predisposition Program (https://www.stjude.org/treatment/services/clinics-and-services/cancer-predisposition-clinic.html), we identify children with a variety of cancer predisposing conditions and deliver guidance regarding cancer treatment and how to best monitor for the subsequent development of additional tumors. Our team provides confidential genetic counseling and testing for St. Jude patients, and when appropriate, their first-degree relatives. We also implement state-of-the-art protocols for cancer surveillance and prevention. Our research projects range in scope from identifying novel genetic causes for cancer to understanding the factors that influence how parents and adolescents make decisions about, communicate and react to cancer genetic testing. Finally, we serve as a resource on cancer genetic testing to colleagues within St. Jude as well as to outside providers and families.
The Genetic Counselor will be a member of a growing team that currently consists of six genetic counselors, a genetics nurse practitioner, several research assistants and numerous physician-scientists including a clinical geneticist. This position has a heavy emphasis on education, where the Genetic Counselor will coordinate and implement educational endeavors internal and external to the institution. Specific responsibilities include serving as rotation coordinator for St. Jude hematology/oncology fellows and direct supervisor and mentor to rotating genetic counseling students and student interns.

Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited genetic counseling program required. Degree in Human Genetics is acceptable.
Two years of clinical and/or research experience required. Genetic Counseling experience preferred.
