The Pathology Department at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an open Pathologist Assistant position available. The Pathologists' Assistant (PA) is responsible for the preparation, gross examination and dissection of tissue/fluid specimens for histologic and cytologic examination by a pathologist and will take an advanced role in the performance of post-mortem examinations. The PA assists the pathologist in intraoperative consultations including frozen sections. The PA manages the morgue and the pathology fixed tissue archives. Under the supervision of Medical Director-Anatomic Pathology, the PA is responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled and may work under the guidance of Faculty pathologists and the Manager-Anatomic Pathology.
Entry level experience as a Pathologists' Assistant as obtained through completion of a NAACLS approved Pathologists' Assistant program
Bachelor's degree in a biologic, chemical or physical science from an accredited college or university
Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program
Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by the ASCP Board of Certification
PA(ASCP) which is renewable every three years
