St. Jude is anticipating the need for a Manager of Software Development in the coming months. The Manager of Software Development role offers an exciting opportunity to work on projects that are part of St. Jude’s strategic plan. The Manager will manage a team of software engineers that will help maintain St. Jude’s Cloud. St. Jude Cloud is one of the world’s largest repositories of pediatric genomics data and offers a suite of unique analysis tools and visualizations. It was developed by scientists at St. Jude. The Manager will also be a part of the St. Jude Universal ID initiative. Once fully implemented, the St. Jude Universal ID system will keep track of specimens and specimen data in all areas of the hospital.
Day-to-day the Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of information systems and software applications in the Research Informatics Division. The Manager is also responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her development team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information systems. High level of expertise in Object-Oriented methodologies and programming in Oracle and SQL Server databases is required. Knowledge of C, C++ and Java languages is required. This individual must be highly motivated in this area of computing in order to stay current with present trends and technologies.
Five (5) years of software development experience in related areas and technologies or demonstrated experience as a Project leader in a related scientific environment and three (3) years of experience in managing a software development team is required.
Three (3) years of software development experience in related areas and technologies or demonstrated experience as project leader in a related scientific environment and three (3) years of experience in managing a software development team is required with a Master’s degree.
Experience in clinical or medical research and a thorough knowledge of new and emerging technologies and system architectures is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) is required.
Master's degree in Computer Science (or related field) is preferred.
