A research staff position is available to assist in the management of laboratory operations and to conduct scientific research, particularly in the area of our NIH-funded project of DNA replication. Laboratory management will include working with other St. Jude departments to procure laboratory supplies; assisting in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, reagents, or procedures; and generating a few specific reagents for the entire research group. The scientific research responsibilities will be based on experience, needs, and interests. These may include biochemical assays, molecular biology, protein purification, crystallization trials, and/or working with the newly formed cryo-EM center of the Department.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated, observant, pragmatic, flexible, and a team player. Strong communication skills will be essential for the successful candidate. Strong backgrounds in molecular biology, protein purification, or protein crystallization are highly desired.
A minimum of three (3) years total work experience as a SJCRH Research Technologist or three (3) years relevant post-degree experience in a similar research environment is required with a Bachelor's degree.
A minimum of two (2) years total work experience as a SJCRH Research Technologist or two (2) years relevant post-degree experience in a similar research environment is required with a Master's degree.
No experience is required with a PhD in a related field.
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field is required
