This is an exciting career opportunity for a mid- to advanced level scientist to join the laboratory of Dr. Charles G. Mullighan, MBBS (Hons), MSc, MD at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Our laboratory offers a strong team-based environment where you will conduct clinically-relevant research using a variety of molecular, biochemical, and cell-based technologies to understand the genetic basis of leukemia, particularly high risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). We use high resolution genomic profiling including next generation sequencing to comprehensively identify all genetic alterations contributing to leukemogenesis and treatment failure. Studies from our laboratory have identified multiple new targets of genetic alterations, several of which have been translated to the clinic as new diagnostic approaches and targets for therapy.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to research of the biology of high risk subtypes of acute lymphoblastic leukemia identified by our laboratory while supporting multiple projects within the Mullighan laboratory. To succeed in this position, you should have strong organizational skills, be able to work both independently and in a team setting, and a demonstrated proficiency in molecular, biochemical, or cell biology. Previous experience with basic research techniques including western blotting, PCR, molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, and experimental modeling is preferred, but not required.
