We are currently seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead the day-to-day activities of the preclinical therapeutics initiatives within the Center for In Vivo Imaging and Therapeutics (CIVIT) at St. Jude. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong collaborator with proven interdisciplinary project management experience to facilitate the use of cutting-edge imaging tools and technical excellence to complement investigator research efforts across the institution.
In addition to the management and training of laboratory staff members, the Laboratory Supervisor will be an active participant in enhancing research activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as achievement of laboratory goals. Our highly interactive, mission-driven environment requires a dynamic manager with strong communication skills to ensure quality operations and procedures across the research initiatives.
Successful applicants will have proven experience working with preclinical models, model development, and implementation of translational therapeutics work. Experience in pharmacology and/or preclinical imaging is preferred, but not required.
About the Center for In Vivo Imaging and Therapeutics (CIVIT)
The Center for In Vivo Imaging and Therapeutics (CIVIT) acts to facilitate the use of cutting-edge imaging technology to complement investigators research efforts. This includes bioluminescence imaging using the Xenogen IVIS-200 system and high resolution ultrasound using the VisualSonicsVEVO-2100. Both of these modalities allow for serial monitoring of tumor formation/progression in grafted or spontaneous tumor models and are amenable to determinations of response to therapeutic intervention.
In addition, there are two intravital microscopy systems which, using cranial window technology, enable the serial monitoring and detection of response to therapy of intracranial brain tumors. In support of total tumor burden measurements, these systems have the flexibility to allow more detailed measurement of interactions between cell types using multiple fluorophores. We also have the ability to analyze ex vivo tissue using a GE Locus Specimen CT system. This may be of interest to investigators who wish to study bone density and phenotypic changes either in response to transgenesis or treatment. With the inclusion of contrast perfusion, vascular and soft tissue imaging is also achievable. We have a surgical suite equipped with a Leica M525/F20 surgical microscope which allows intricate surgical procedures to be performed to support and complement our imaging modalities and investigator requirements.
