The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a new and growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the mission of taking St. Jude to the world by training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research.



GPM is seeking a detail-oriented Project Coordinator to assist in the design, coordination, implementation, and oversight of projects and initiatives within and for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) and St. Jude Global (SJG). This pivotal role serves as a section/project team lead for two rapidly growing units and acts a liaison to other members of GPM and SJG and its collaborators. This is a unique opportunity to learn new content in many different disciplines, as well as to develop new programs that will be implemented around the world.


The Project Coordinator will be responsible for:


  • Facilitating complex projects for the Disease Burden and Simulation Unit using cutting-edge quantitative data collation, analyses, and tools for dissemination.
  • Supporting the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Medical Director on the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of regional initiatives that engage local teams and international partners to improve health systems, services, and outcomes for children with cancer.
  • Managing communications and building relationships with faculty and senior leaders from many types of organizations in order to attain project goals and facilitate productive collaboration.
  • Assisting with grant and protocol writing, literature searching and synthesis, and IRB preparation.
  • Developing grant and project budgets; interpreting financial reports.
  • Maintaining and tracking project timelines and deliverables.
  • Updating relevant data and project records.
  • Managing events and meetings, including logistical support and materials creation. Participate in internal, or external trainings, as needed.
  • Coordinating written and spoken discussions in live meetings, presentations, and email/written communications

Minimum Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience and expertise in complex project management
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook Calendar tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Fluency in a second language preferred
  • Experience in an international setting and with project management methodologies preferred
  • Supervisory and/or team coordinator experience preferred
  • Clinical background is preferred, research experience is a plus

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field required
  • Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field preferred

Required Credentials

  • Three (3) years of complex project management experience, preferably in health related and resource-limited (low- and middle-income country) settings
  • Must have demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives

Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite required, basic statistical software experience preferred.
  • Experienced in project management skills, including demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, to create strategic plans, to problem-solve, and to analyze new information quickly. 
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills are critical.
  • Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Background in public health, or global health practice environment, is preferred.
  • Cultural sensitivity is a must
  • Evening and weekend work may be required, position may also be expected to travel internationally (no more than 30%).
