Overview

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Antimicrobial Stewardship collaborates with other leaders from the Infectious Diseases and Pharmaceutical Departments to implement programmatic efforts to improve utilization of antimicrobials among St. Jude patients. This leader expands the activities of the stewardship program by introducing new strategies to achieve the program's goals, by ensuring relevant data collection and reporting and by implementation of efforts directed toward improving antimicrobial usage. Key functions include relationship building with, and education of, other clinicians, surveillance regarding antimicrobial usage and impact of programmatic efforts, and direct interaction with patient care teams when necessary to appropriately address antimicrobial usage.

Minimum Experience

Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency or fellowship in Pediatrics, Oncology, or Infectious Diseases Pharmacy

In absence of residency/fellowship training in Infectious Diseases Pharmacy, at least five (5) years clinical experience in oncology or related setting involving extensive management of infectious diseases

Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification in a relevant specialty strongly encouraged

 

Desirable Characteristics:

Specific experience or training in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy or antimicrobial stewardship, with at least 3 years of experience in clinical practice preferred. Excellent skills in data analysis, implementation science and/or quality improvement will facilitate the success of this position.

Minimum Education

Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree

Required Credentials

Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY ST. JUDE: Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
