    We’re currently seeking a Director of Social Work to drive the advancement and innovation of social work services across our institution during a period of growth and expansion. If you’re an experienced leader with clear vision and unwavering drive, then this is your opportunity to establish our Department of Social Work as a national and international leader in providing psychosocial care to children and families facing catastrophic illness.  




    In this role, you will be responsible for the development of programs integrating the mission, vision, and planning for the department within St. Jude’s institutional strategic plan. Our highly collaborative, mission-driven environment requires a team-oriented individual to ensure the integrated delivery of care and represent the department on institutional committees and teams. This is a highly visible leadership position that demands an innovative thinker with excellent tactical capabilities and persistent optimism. 


    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Engage department staff in professional development opportunities and an overall commitment to excellence in psychosocial care of patients and families
    • Work with clinical and administrative teams to address patient care issues impacting the delivery of services and to ensure a safe and healing environment of care
    • Utilize knowledge of hospital policies, federal and state laws and the Joint Commission regulations to ensure adherence  and compliance
    • Provide operational support for all activities of the Social Work team
    • Use data to identify opportunities for program development and quality improvement initiatives

    Minimum Experience

    Four (4) years post-master's administrative/management experience in a health care setting.

    Two (2) years or more of post-masters' administrative/management in pediatric medical setting with catastrophic disease (preferably hematology/oncology) focus is preferred, but not required.

    Minimum Education

    Successful candidates will possess a Master of Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work. 

    Other Credentials

    Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification required. Must be able to obtain a Tennessee LCSW certification within 6 months of hire.
