The World’s Brightest Minds Always Innovate

At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we know what can be achieved when the brightest scientific minds face the fewest barriers. That’s why we provide world-class facilities, state-of-the-art technologies, extraordinary support, and a collaborative, bench-to-bedside environment where you can see, firsthand, how your science translates into survival for the children we serve. Quite simply, at St. Jude, we encourage you to dream big, and we give you everything you need to be the force behind our cures.

An exciting opportunity as an Associate Scientist in the Biomarker Development laboratory is available in the Department of Pathology. In our research and development laboratory, you will have the opportunity to solve problems using molecular biomarkers of diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic significance for diseases affecting St. Jude patients. You will have the ability to evaluate the feasibility and clinical utility of novel assays in determining whether they can be integrated into our clinical diagnostic practices.

Because most cancers lack well-defined biomarkers, we are excited about the potential to use liquid biopsies and protein microarrays to identify disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets in our pediatric cancer population. To be successful in this position, you should have previous experience in novel assay development and validation in addition to a background in protein analysis. Knowledge of protein biochemistry , detection/quantification assays (Immunoassays, Mass spectrometry based approaches) and analytical expertise in basic protein characterization methods (HPLC, ELISA, FACS analysis, SDS-PAGE, Western blot) are highly desirable. If you enjoy problem solving, and applying your scientific creativity to real world applications, you are strongly encouraged to apply.
